LAHORE: Annual matriculation examinations will begin all over the province from Tuesday (today).

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore, has set up 759 examination centres. Section 144 has been imposed around the centres and no outsider will be allowed to enter the centre premises.

Up to 250,000 candidates will appear in exams for grade X while 270,000 candidates will sit in the exams for grade IX. The commissioner, deputy commissioner and district police officer will visit the examination centres for ensuring security measures and they will also submit a report to the secretary of the higher education commission on a daily basis. A spokesperson for the BISE said the final board examination for class IX would start on May 26. The board also released the schedule, according to which the examination will end on June 10.

SUMMER VACATION: The summer vacation for public and private schools in the province will be begin from June 1 and end on July 31.

The Punjab School Education Department on Monday issued a schedule for summer vacation and the new academic year. According to a notification, schools will start examinations in May and start the new academic year on Aug 1.
