KASUR: Kanganpur police on Monday recovered the body of a missing minor girl from fields near her house at village Babliana Hithar situated across the Sutlej near Pakistan-India border.

Police have arrested a suspect, a 15-year-old boy, of the same village for allegedly killing the girl (6) after rape.

According to father of the victim, his daughter went missing on Sunday while the family was out in the fields for work leaving her alone in the house.

On Monday, the complainant came to know that his daughter was seen with a boy who took her to fields. The family informed police about the girl and the suspect (nominated in the FIR).

The complainant said while searching the girl along with police and villagers, they found her dead in maize fields, some four acres away from her house.

On the identification of the complainant, police arrested the suspect and lodged a case against him under sections of PPC including 302 (murder), 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape).

According to investigation officer Muhammad Abbas Bhatti, the suspect had confessed to strangling the girl after rape in the maize field.

A press release issued by the police said samples obtained from the victim had been sent for forensic analysis to confirm the cause of death and rape.
