SWABI: Awami National Party’s former provincial general secretary Saleem Khan advocate here on Friday accused the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf of using official resources to make its upcoming public meeting in Swabi successful.

In an open letter, he urged the Swabi deputy commissioner to conduct a high-level inquiry in this regard and provide assurance to the people of the district that their resources would not be spent on promotion of PTI and its objectives.

Former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan will visit the district and address a public meeting here on Monday.

Saleem Khan quoted a social media report and claimed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, ministers and former National Assembly speaker had been putting pressure on the officials of various government departments to make the public meeting successful.

He alleged that the panaflexes displayed on billboards had been financed by the officials of different departments.

“The campaigners of corruption-free Pakistan have been using the resources and finances of the poor district mercilessly,” he added.

The ANP leader said that the deputy commissioner should check any misuse of official resources.

When contacted, PTI district president Anwar Haqdad rejected these allegations.

BODY RECOVERED: Rescue 1122 team recovered body of a woman from Pehur High Level Canal on Friday, said officials. The deceased was identified as Tajmanzari Bibi, 52, hailing from Palodand village.

Meanwhile, police resolved a blind murder case and arrested a man for killing his wife.

The officials who conducted investigations said that Faiz Ali of Chota Lahor city had shot dead his wife over a domestic issue inside their house.

VARSITY BUDGET: The syndicate of Women University Swabi (WUS) proposed Rs740 million budget for year 2022-23 in its meeting here on Friday, says a statement.

Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi presided over the meeting and shared details of achievements of the university with the participants.

She said that the WUS was the only university in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa whose budget was in surplus.
