SWABI: Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology Rector Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid said here on Sunday that President Dr Arif Alvi had appreciated the contributions and role of the GIK Institute in promoting higher education and launching modern academic disciplines like artificial intelligence, cyber security and data science.

According to a statement issued here, the rector held a meeting with President Alvi, who is also chancellor of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, at Aiwan-i-Sadr, says a statement issued here.

Special secretary Waqar Ahmad and Sohail Malik, director general Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Secretariat, were also present on the occasion besides Society for Promotion of Engineering Education in Pakistan executive director Shakil Durrani, additional secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Raja Akhtar Iqbal and pro-rectors of the GIK Institute.

A briefing was also held in continuation of the previous briefings held in October 2021 and February 2022.

Prof Khalid said thatthe chancellor was briefed about review of curricula, new faculty hiring, academic courses and labs and other important steps that included digital transformation, establishment of smart classrooms and infrastructure development.

He said that the chancellor was also informed that sub-campus of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute would be established in Islamabad.

He said that the president appreciated the quality education imparted to the students at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute.

IMRAN TO ADDRESS RALLY: Provincial minister Shahram Khan Tarakai and other lawmakers said here on Sunday that the public meetings of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in parts of the country got a massive response and claimed that Imran Khan’s public meeting here in Swabi on Monday (today) would break all records.

He was addressing a press conference at the SwabiCricket Stadium. He said that all preparations for the public meeting had been completed at the Gohati Cricket Ground.
