SWABI: A man was killed and his two friends were injured when the car they were travelling in was attacked near Panjpir on the Swabi-Jehangira Road here on Monday.

SHO Swabi city police station Altaf Khan said the attackers riding a motorcycle were chasing the car, which was on way to the district headquarters. The cause of the incident and was not immediately known.

The deceased was identified as Hamza Khan, belonging to Dagai village, while his friends – Mahaz Khan and Shazadullah – were injured. The body and the injured were taken to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor.

The police have registered an FIR.

MOUNTAIN CATCHES FIRE: A fire broke out at the Pabbini Mountain on Monday that was put out by firefighters of the Rescue 1122 after hectic efforts of four hours.

Rescue officials told Dawn that it was not immediately known as to what caused the fire, but firefighters immediately reached the mountain on information and started putting out the blaze.

They said strong winds created problems for the firefighters.

Also in the day, a fire also broke out near the Tarbela Dam switchyard. However, the dam firefighters along with rescue officials succeeded in bringing it under control.

A dam official said cause of the fire was being determined.

Meanwhile, a truck carrying wool was gutted near Karnal Sher Khan Chowk. The truck was going to Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate.
