PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party has sought the support of Pakistan Peoples Party in the by-election on PK-7, Swat-1V constituency.
The seat had fallen vacant following the death of ANP lawmaker Waqar Khan on April 30.
An ANP delegation held a meeting with PPP provincial president Najamuddin Khan on Monday.
ANP provincial spokesperson MPA Samar Haroon Bilour, Salahuddin Khan, Faisal Zeb Khan and Shakeel Bashir Khan were also part of the delegation.
The delegation requested the PPP leadership to announce its support to the ANP candidate in the by-polls.
As per the schedule announced by the election commission, the polling would be held on June 26.
PPP leaders sought some time for taking the party’s top leadership into confidence in that regard.
The ANP lawmakers said both the parties had very cordial relations and expressed the hope that the PPP would announce support to ANP candidate in the by-election.
ANP has nominated Hussain Ahmad Khan alias Khan Nawab as its candidate for the by-poll.
PPP MPA Nighat Orakzai and former minister Ziaullah Afridi were also present on the occasion.
