BAHAWALPUR: Veteran TV actor Uzman Gilani on Wednesday virtually inaugurated Cantonment Board Bahawalpur (CBB) park here in Model Town, which has been named after her.

Originally belonging to Bahawalpur, Ms Gilani is presently living in Australia.

The Uzma Gilani Park, stretching over five kanals, comprises a jogging track, sitting area and a play area with rides and swings for children. It is exclusively for children and women.

Cantonment Board’s Executive Officer Rana Ramiz Shafqat says the park has been named after Ms Gilani to honour the veteran actor who belongs to Bahawalpur.

He says the CEB is committed to acknowledge the services of the living legends in different fields belonging to Bahawalpur.

He says that last year, the board had installed a sculpture of national hockey legend Olympian Samiullah Khan in Model Town. He adds that the board has plans to pay tribute to more living legends belonging to the area.
