HYDERABAD: The Sindh Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (SICVD) on Tuesday achieved another milestone by starting open-heart surgeries at its Hyderabad satellite centre on Tuesday.
Cardiac surgeons Prof Dr Rizwan Memon and Prof Fazl-i-Rabi, along with anaesthesiologist Prof Amin Khuwaja, performed the first open-heart surgery there, said a press release.
The doctors said the surgery here on Tuesday was performed on an 18-year-old female patient from Matiari. “She is stable and recovering,” they said.
With the first successful heart-bypass surgery at the SICVD satellite centre, Hyderabad became the fifth city to have such facility in Sindh. Doctors at the institute described the development as a good omen for the residents of Hyderabad and its adjoining areas.
