GUJAR KHAN: Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) Raja Pervez Ashraf has issued directions for establishment of a sub-campus of Punjab University in tehsil Gujar Khan. According to details, the university has been a long-standing demand of the residents of the area. While talking to Dawn, the National Assembly speaker said that establishment of a high standard university in the area would benefit students of surrounding areas including Chakwal, Kallar Syedan, Kahuta, Rawat and Sohawa.

The PU administration has been directed to get the approval of a PC-I and funding for this project in the Annual Development Plan (ADP) for the fiscal year 2022-23.

Mr Raja said that the planning department of the university has sent a request to Higher Education Commission (HEC) to allocate Rs3,271.1 million in the upcoming fiscal year and has also requested allocation of Rs637.2 million to hold classes on an urgent basis till the sub-campus is fully established.
