RAWALPINDI: Six women died in a landslide while two were injured after remaining trapped under the debris in Kahuta on Tuesday.

Police said the women went to a waterfall near their village but got trapped under debris that gathered as a result of landsliding. After the incident came to light, the police, villagers and rescuers reached the spot and started a rescue operation.

The deceased were identified as Gulfreen Bibi, 50, Shabnam Bibi, 42, Samina Bibi, 35, Nimra Bibi, 30, Ayesha Javed, 21, and Iman Bibi, 14. The injured were identified as Sobia Rabbani, 40, and Alisha, 17, who were shifted to hospital.

Meanwhile, one person was shot dead and 10 others were injured during a clash between members of two private housing societies in Chakri area.

Police said the injured were shifted to the hospital while four people were arrested. Raids are underway to arrest others involved in the incident.
