ISLAMABAD/ RAWALPINDI: Owing to PTI long march, Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Rawalpindi have postponed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part II papers.

According to a notification issued by FBISE, papers which were to be held on Wednesday and Thursday have been postponed.

Speaking to Dawn, FBISE Chairman Qaisar Alam said in a bid to facilitate students, the board had decided to postpone papers of May 25 and 26.

He said new dates for these two papers would be announced later on.

Rawalpindi board spokesman Arslan Cheema said the board had cancelled only one paper being held on Wednesday (today) and new dates would be announced later on.

Besides, all educational institutions and universities in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have also decided to suspend education activities on Wednesday.

On the other hand, Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has also decided to keep all 423 schools and colleges closed on Wednesday (today). The directorate has also postponed class fifth and 8th centralized papers being held on Wednesday under its supervision.

Meanwhile, Quaid-i-Azam University has also decided to suspend education activities besides postponing BS paper of affiliated colleges of Islamabad, which was scheduled to be held on Wednesday.

Similarly, educational activities in International Islamic University, Islamabad, National University of Modern Languages and Nust will also remain suspended. These three universities are located along Srinagar Highway, where PTI is planning to stage protest and long march. Meanwhile, many private schools have already closed their primary sections due to heat wave. Many private schools in urban areas have announced holiday for one day on May 25 (today).
