KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan Acting Governor Dr Murtaza Syed on Tuesday asked banks to focus on Roshan Digital Accounts (RDA) to improve dollar inflows.
During the visit to the head office of Meezan Bank, the governor congratulated the bank’s RDA team for channelling a substantial volume of remittances and achieving remittances of $1 billion though RDAs, said a press release issued by the Meezan Bank on Tuesday.
He said that other banks should also focus their attention on increasing remittances through RDAs and come up with innovative means for achieving this milestone.
He said that overseas Pakistanis have always made Pakistan proud through their achievements and dedication to their motherland. He said the country needs more investment from abroad to fund the current account deficit and raise much needed foreign exchange reserves.
Irfan Siddiqui, president and CEO of Meezan Bank, thanked the SBP for its support in the RDAs initiative and for their patronage in launching the Meezan Roshan Digital Centre.
The SBP acting governor inaugurated the Meezan Bank’s Digital Centre, built purposefully to cater to the needs of RDA customers.
