ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Information Commission (PIC) has imposed a fine on Cabinet Secretary Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera for wilfully denying information about the Toshakhana gifts ex-premier Imran Khan had received and those he retained during his tenure.

The PIC had issued the directive to the cabinet division last year and the final warning was issued to the officer on Tuesday to submit the record before the commission by 3.30pm, but the officer again disregarded the directive, according to the PIC order issued to the Accountant General of Pakistan later in the evening.

The PIC asked the accountant general to deduct 30 days salary of Mr Sukhera for non-compliance of its order. The PIC directed the accountant general “to take the measure to deduct 30 days salary of Mr Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera, Secretary Cabinet Division, imposed as fine under Section 20-F of the Right of Access to Information Act 2017 by this commission”.
