WATER SHORTAGE: The water shortage in Hina Bungalows in Gulistan-i-Jauhar’s Block 19 is getting worse by the day. The whole block is facing massive water deficit except for Askari-IV and the Central Government Society. New pipelines were installed, which supply water once every two to three months. This is unbelievable and yet it is the reality. People are forced to purchase water from private hydrants while continuing to pay the relevant utility bills. The Sindh chief minister and the chairman of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) should look into the matter and take due action against the persons concerned.

INFLATION AND LIVES: Inflation has all but buried people alive. The misery of the common man is beyond the imagination of the rulers. The only way they can probably come close to getting some idea about the prevailing situation is to realise that people are as miserable as the rulers are arrogant. If the rulers cannot provide relief to the people, they have no right to remain in power. It is not about this political party or that, it is about the mindset of the ruling elite.

A NEW LOW: This refers to Imran Khan’s recent remarks against Maryam Nawaz during a speech at a rally in Multan. The misogynist remark was certainly in bad taste. Public figures delivering lectures on morality and righteousness and about following religious tenets should think twice before making an utterance in public.

DEPRIVED BALOCHISTAN: Being the country’s poorest province, Balochistan has no access to food and water. People are starving as crop cultivation has almost become impossible due to dry weather, land barrenness and water scarcity. Children are most affected by the situation and their lives are at risk because of hunger and malnutrition. The government needs to put in place some immediate large-scale poverty alleviation programme.
