LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday disposed of petitions against the arrests and detention of the workers and lawyers belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).

During hearing of multiple identical petitions, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana appeared before Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti and agreed to release all the detainees who were arrested following the orders of the deputy commissioner under Sub-Section 1 of Section 3 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960.

The chief justice also issued a direction to all the deputy commissioners of Punjab to withdraw their orders and asked all the district police officers (DPOs) to ensure the release of all the detainees who were arrested during the last couple of days whether they were involved or not involved in any case/detention order.

The justice also directed a provincial law officer to ensure compliance of the order before disposing of the petitions.
