GUJRAT: A college student was gunned down and another suffered injuries during a clash between two student groups of private colleges in Phalia city of Mandi Bahauddin on Friday.

Phalia DSP Malik Adnan told Dawn that the student groups clashed over some issue during which armed men resorted to firing which resulted in the death of second year student Abdullah Afzal Tarrar whereas another student suffered injuries.

He said the dead body of the deceased was shifted to the Phalia Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospital for autopsy whereas the injured student was shifted to the Mandi Bahauddin DHQ hospital where doctors were making efforts to save his life.

The DSP added that police had collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and launched investigation into the matter.
