ISLAMABAD: Robbers and thieves looted cash and valuables worth millions of rupees from 27 places in the capital, police said on Saturday.

Two persons armed with weapons raided the house of Qamar Zaman at G-15/3 and took away gold ornaments along with other valuables.

In another incident, three armed persons held Shahryar Khan at gunpoint at G-14/4 when he was returning home in a car. The gunmen bundled him into the rear seat and one of them got behind the wheel.

They roamed around the city and later pushed out Mr Khan at G-13/1 and escaped in the car.

Moreover, two gunmen intercepted Ali Raza near Giga Mall when he was driving back home from Kharian early in the morning. The robbers snatched his purse, three mobile phones and took away the car.

The robbery victim called the police helpline from a mobile phone of a passerby and also informed the company that had installed a tracker in the car. However, all the calls remained unattended.

Likewise, four gunmen intercepted Amjad Khan and his friend Nawab Ali at Golra near the railway bridge and snatched Rs115,000, two mobile phones.

The wife of Asif Mehmood was robbed of gold ornaments at I-10/2 when she was going to school to drop her children. In another incident, four robbers snatched Rs120,000 and eight prize bonds worth Rs1,500 each from Ghulam Rasool at Sangjani.

Three armed men snatched Rs12,000 along with a motorcycle from a delivery boy, Mohammad Junaid Awan, at Jinnah Garden. Three persons armed with weapons also robbed Rs68,000 from a filling station at CBR Town.

Meanwhile, Shahzad Alim was beaten up by three armed men riding a car at Srinagar Highway where he was waiting for a passenger vehicle and snatched Rs23,000 and an ATM card.

In another incident, a thief in the disguise of a maid stole Rs100,000, gold ornaments and other items from the house of Mehrban Mazhar at Bahria Enclave.

Moreover, 23 motorcycles were stolen from different areas of the capital, including Dhoke Hyderi, G-7/3, G-7/4, Ghauri Town, Comsats University, Golra, Bahria, Khanna Dak, Naiabadi, Bhara Kahu, G-13, Kak Bridge and PWD.
