HYDERABAD, Dec 9: Police have not been able to make any progress in finding nine missing members of Manu Bheel’s family. Police detained Rano Bheel, a former kamdar (farm manager) of landlord, Abdul Rehman Mari and that too at the pointation of Manu Bheel.

Rano Bheel was picked up in Jhol near a village of the landlord and was being interrogated following suo motu notice of the matter taken by the Supreme Court.

He told police that he had remained kamdar of the landlord but at present his status was no more than that of a peasant.

Manu Bheel has expressed confidence in investigation by DPO Ajmal Magsi and said that it be conducted by the PPO because Sanghar, Mirpurkhas and Hyderabad police had spoiled his case and made no sincere efforts to recover his family.

Sanghar DPO Ajmal Magsi was conducting investigation in the matter after the provincial police officer, Asad Jehangir, asked him to continue investigation in the matter.

A raid was conducted after Manu Bheel asked police authorities to search the village on the Gharang road, Jhol, Sanghar district as he had come to know that his family members were last seen there.

A police party led by SP investigation Gul Hassan Larik, ASP Baqar and ladies police constables raided the village.

They searched houses where haris belonging to Bheel, Oad and Khaskheli communities were living.

Only women were present in the house while some of them were working in nearby fields.

DPO Ajmal Magsi told Dawn on phone that Rano Bheel was being interrogated as he was a peasant of the landlord.

“I am continuing the investigation in the follow up of previous inquiries. I can not give you all the details because it is a multi-dimensional inquiry”, said Mr Magsi.
