KARACHI: A suspect nominated in the murder case of teenaged student Jazlan Faisal inside Bahria Town Karachi has surrendered before the police, it emerged on Friday.
Malir SSP (Investigation) Arab Mahar told Dawn that the father of suspect Inshaal handed him to the Gadap City police on Friday.
He said the exact role of the suspect in the murder case would be ascertained after proper investigation.
He was present there when 19-year-old Jazlan was shot dead while his friend, Shah Mir, was wounded over a trivial issue inside the housing society on Superhighway.
The SSP said that two suspects, both brothers, nominated in the murder FIR were still at large. They are the brother of held suspect Muhammad Hasnain, he said and expressed the hope that they would also surrender before the police soon.
Jazlan, an orphaned child who was doing chartered accountant course was gunned down in an armed attack by four suspects near Bahria Town’s ‘Eiffel Tower’ on May 26.
The incident appeared to be an outcome of rash driving as the victim had asked the one of suspects as to why he was riding his motorbike in a dangerous way inside the BTK.
Only on Thursday, a judicial magistrate had extended the police remand of suspects Hasnain and his father Faiz Muhammad Khan for two days and directed the investigating officer to ensure the arrest of the absconding suspects.
His father was in custody since he had allegedly given his licensed pistol to his son who used the same in the offence.
