TOBA TEK SINGH: Hundreds of trees were burnt in a fire on Friday in Punjab’s second-biggest government forests consisting of 11,973 acres along the River Ravi in Kamalia tehsil, 19 days after the previous fire which had broken out in the same forest.

Rescue 1122 reported the fire started in Block No 3 near Chak 723-GB initially on three acres in the afternoon which later spread to 800 acres. Till this report was filed, firefighters of Rescue 1122 and Kamalia municipal committee were struggling to extinguish the fire.

Kamalia Assistant Commissioner Zaryab Sajid is supervising the fire extinguishing operation.

An official said forest block officer Khalid Husain Kathia had been taken into custody for investigation on the order of the deputy commissioner.

AERIAL FIRING: Aerial firing left a boy critically injured at a wedding ceremony at Faisalabad near Chak 68-JB Mor on Faisalabad-Jhang Road on Friday.

Rescue 1122 reported Sada Hussain, 17, of Chak 67-JB, was admitted to the Allied Hospital.

Meanwhile, three persons were injured seriously when their opponents opened indiscriminate fire on them in Faisalabad Chak 243-RB on Faisalabad-Samundri Road.

They were shifted to the Allied Hospital.

They included Arshad, 38, Ahsan, 26, and Mushtaq, 55.
