PESHAWAR: Security forces killed seven terrorists during two intelligence-based operations in Janikhel subdivision of Bannu district and Hassenkhel area of North Waziristan tribal district on Sunday, the military said.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the armed forces’ media affairs department, said in a statement that members of security forces conducted an IBO in Janikhel area of Bannu district, killing five terrorists. Another operation was carried out in Hassenkhel area of North Waziristan in which two terrorists were killed.

The proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan declared a ceasefire for an indefinite period after talks with members of a jirga of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Kabul, but after the ceasefire, two soldiers were martyred in North Waziristan.

The ISPR said that weapons and ammunition had also been recovered from the terrorists killed in the operations. They were involved in terrorist activities against mem­bers of security forces, it added.
