KARACHI: A group of unidentified people hurled stones at a Hindu temple in Korangi in the small hours of Thursday morning, police said.

Korangi-SSP Faisal Bashir Memon said that the incident occurred in J-area of Korangi , where a temple was set up in the hall of a house.

Two labourers were painting the room and the door was open, when around five miscreants riding motorbikes arrived there. They hurled stones at the temple and fled. An idol (morti) was partially damaged in the incident.

The police registered a case against unknown suspects on charges of sacrilege and efforts are under way to arrest them with the help of CCTC footage.

Meanwhile, Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab said the temple would be repaired.
