LAHORE: After failing to qualify for the 2023 World Cup as a result of their defeat in the Asia Cup group stage in Jakarta last month, Pakistan now target the Commonwealth Games starting in Birmingham on July 28.
According to camp commandant Olympian Khwaja Junaid, 36 probables will attend the two-week fitness camp for the Commonwealth Games at the PT School, Abbottabad from Wednesday.
Besides Junaid, other camp officials include head coach Siegfried Aikman, physical instructor Daniel Berry, video analyst Nadeem Lodhi and physiotherapist Adeel Akhtar. The camp is aimed at helping probables attain top-level fitness level required for professional athletes.
Ten teams will be participating in the Commonwealth Games hockey event, including India and six-time champions Australia.
