PESHAWAR: The Iranian Consulate has agreed to remove the security barricades outside its premises following a meeting between the Peshawar commissioner and the consul general.
Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud had met Consul General Hamid Raza Ghomi a few days ago and informed him about the traffic congestion resulting from the security barricades erected outside the consulate building in the University Town area, according to a statement issued here on Sunday.
The statement quoted the Iranian diplomat as saying that he had accepted Mr Mehsud’s request to remove the barricades from the consulate building for public ease.
The statement said for protection of the premises, a bombproof wall would be built at the government expense.
The statement said the residents of the University Town also thanked the commissioner Peshawar for playing his role in removal of security barricades, which had been creating traffic bottleneck in the area for past two decades.
