PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed the relevant officials to finalise arrangements for formal issuance of intimation letters to the owners for acquisition of land under the ‘land sharing formula’ so that work on New Peshawar Valley project can be started on time.

He issued the directives while chairing a meeting regarding the proposed New Peshawar Valley project, said a statement.

The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to take necessary steps for setting up a sub-office of Peshawar Development Authority, establishing a police post along with required human resource on the site of the scheme, posting of required revenue staff for timely disposal of matters related to land acquisition and preparing PC-I for construction of access roads to the site of the project.

The meeting was informed that so far 8,000-kanal of land was cleared for the project whereas the final master plan of the scheme was approved by the board of PDA in its last meeting.

The housing scheme will be launched on 186,400-kanal of land out of which 41 per cent area has been allocated for residential plots and apartments while 28 per cent area has been specified for roads. Similarly, 16 per cent of area has been allocated for parks and open spaces, seven per cent for public buildings and five per cent would be utilised for commercial activities and parking.

According to the master plan, initially 62,056 residential plots of different categories have been proposed which include 16,312 plots of three-marla, 17,201 plots of five-marla, 3,402 plots of seven-marla, 9,526 plots of 10-marla, 13,415 plots of one kanal, 1,494 plots of two-kanal and 706 plots of four-kanal.

About 8,000-kanal of land has been reserved for provision of residential plots to people on the need basis.

Other key features of the project also include Civil Secretariat, Media Enclave, Sports City, Education and Health City, which will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities of international standard. A mega park with the nomenclature of ‘Khyber Park’ would also be established under the project which would have cultural villages, Gandhara Museum, Theme Park, forest, adventure area and other facilities.

A project for the construction of access roads to the site of the scheme has been reflected in the new Annual Development Programme. The PC-I of the scheme is being prepared which would soon be presented to the competent forum for approval.
