ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Jordan share the same values and have never been reluctant in extending support to each another on critical issues, deputy head of mission at the Embassy of Jordan Dr Maen Khreasat said on Monday night.
“Serving in Pakistan was the highlight of my career that helped me move up in my profession. It was a pleasure and honour to serve my country Jordan in Pakistan for the last three years,”Dr Khreasat said at a farewell reception hosted in his honour by Charge d’ Affaires of Malaysia Deddy Faisal and his wife Emilia Deddy at their residence in Islamabad.
Jordan and Pakistan endeavoured to maintain excellent bilateral relations and explore new avenues for a better future, the Jordanian diplomat said, adding that “both countries share the same values and cultural heritage of Islamic bonds and brotherhood.”
The reception was attended by Senator Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, government officials and guests from the business community.
“Personally, Islamabad has been a special place to work and live in as a second home and it is so close to my heart. The natural beauty of Pakistan and its peace loving and hospitable people, whenever I travelled across the country, were always a source of comfort for me. And I always felt welcomed,” Dr Khreasat said, adding that, “I feel sad that my tenure has come to an end which means good times pass quickly like an arrow leaving a bow. However, another new professional chapter opens in my career”.
He prayed that Pakistan would always be a beacon of stability and prosperity.
In his remarks, Deddy Faisalsaid he felt sad that his friend was leaving.
“He was my first friend when I was posted to Islamabad sharing dinners and receptions from then on. This is the beauty of becoming a diplomat, making friends, networking not only with senior officials of the host country but the diplomatic corp,” he said.
Mr Faisal also expressed gratitude to the government of Pakistan and its people for the warm hospitality and genuine friendship. Guests later enjoyed a sumptuous dinner.
