SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Two people were killed and four others wounded when a mortar shell exploded at a scrap shop in Wana bazaar of South Waziristan tribal district the other day.

Local police said the explosion occurred when an unexploded mortar shell was being dismantled at the scrap shop in Bakhan Market.

Owner of the shop Wadoud Qandhari died on the spot while another person was pronounced dead at the DHQ hospital in Wana. Mr Wadoud belonged to Afghanistan.

Four children wounded in the incident have been hospitalised. The police have sealed the shop.
