Social media and its effects

This is regarding the article “Social media and its effects” by Wajia Fatima Hashmi (YW, May 21). Her article depicted the outlook of teenagers in a clear manner.

She described that most of youngsters try to be like their ideal celebrity in terms of appearance, but they forget that often celebrity images are edited and photo-shopped. This way, teenagers end up feeling inferior and insecure, leading them to face serious mental problems.

So it’s better for us to be our true selves, because that’s how a person is supposed to be. Her article needs to be understood by every individual who has lost himself in the fake world of social media trends.

The essence of public speaking

This is regarding the cover story, “The essence of public speaking” by Zaina Safdar (YW, June 4). I appreciate the writer for writing on a very important topic that most kids, as well as teenagers, go through many times in their lives.

I can relate to this specific topic, as all the ideas given seemed quite helpful to overcome my fears, especially when I am speaking in front of my class or in public.

The writer also encourages the readers to be confident and stay calm. A few points that we must remember before giving a presentation are our body language, eye contact and doing good research on the topic.

To fail doesn’t mean to fall

This is regarding the article “To fail doesn’t mean to fall” by Fatima Bintay Salman (YW, June 11). I agree with the writer’s views about handling negative emotions.

It’s natural that we get disappointed, dejected and depressed if things don’t turn out the way we want them to be. However, to live a happy life, we must overcome negative feelings.

Moreover, everything settles with time, therefore, we should admit failure and be patient for some time so that we can get back to normal life!

A planting day at school

This is with reference to the story “A planting day at school” by Saliha Rizwan (YW, June 4). Tree plantation is one of the best activities to make our environment healthy and green.

Trees are an essential component of our environment, regulating the ecosystem and all living things are dependent on trees. We must take tree plantation as a combined mission and never miss any chance of planting a tree around our house or vicinity.
