MARDAN: Provincial spokesperson of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Zahir Shah Toru on Saturday said the government had allocated Rs25 billion to provide subsidised wheat flour to people.

He was talking to mediapersons at the district food office after inaugurating the subsidised flour scheme here.

He said government planned to provide flour bags of 20kg and 10kg to general public at discount.

He said flour bags of 10kg and 20kg would be available at Rs490 and Rs980, respectively.

He said the colour of government flour bag would be green, which would be available at different points in various places of the district.

He said the provincial government planned to provide a total of 45,000 20kg and 38,000 10kg wheat flour bags across the province.

Mr Toru asked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to lift ban on supply to flour from Punjab to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also appealed to the federal government to pay half of the subsidy that the KP government was giving on flour to people of the province.

He said they were taking all possible steps to ensure fair and transparent distribution of discounted flour to public. He, however, warned that stern action would be taken against the flour mills not providing subsidised flour to people.

He claimed steps were being taken to ensure provision of fine quality flour to people.
