DADU: Four children drowned in Danister Wah (channel) in Sher Khan Solangi village near Sehwan town on Thursday when they slipped into deep waters while bathing in the water channel.

The children identified as Gul Naz, 12, and Amri, 10, daughters of Ayaz Solangi, Mahnaz, 8, and Asma, 10, daughters of Rajab Solangi, were bathing in shallow waters and their mothers and sisters were washing clothes at the bank when they slipped into deep waters and drowned one after the other.

Local divers took out dead bodies from the canal and brought them to Syed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical and Health Sciences.

Dr Moeenuddin Siddiqui, director of the institute, said that four bodies of the children were brought to the hospital and were handed back to relatives after completion of legal formalities.

Villagers complained that no senior officer from district administration or ruling party had visited the bereaved families so far to offer condolences or award compensation to the poor family for the irreplaceable loss they had suffered.

They said that the public representatives often forgot their voters in their time of need and only remembered them during election days.
