Court seeks record of cases against TV anchor Imran Riaz Khan

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday directed the Punjab Police to submit record of the cases registered against anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan.

Earlier, a provincial law officer told the court that reports in this regard had been sought from all district police officers (DPOs) in the province.

He said the record of the cases registered against the petitioner (Imran Riaz Khan) would reach the advocate general office in a day.

Justice Ali Baqar Najafi adjourned the hearing till July 4 and directed the law officer to produce the cases’ record.

Khan through a counsel pleaded in his petition that police registered four cases against him on similar charges of treason in different areas of the province. He said the police revoked his 18 arm licences in a single day.

The counsel said all the actions taken by the police against the petitioner were politically motivated at were at the behest of the government.

He asked the court to set aside the FIRs registered against the petitioner for being illegal.
