OKARA: A police officer of the Saddar Police Station was arrested on charge of raping a woman who was a complainant in a kidnap case and was moving from pillar to post for recovery of her daughter.

As per first information report (FIR), the woman’s daughter was kidnapped about 20 days back and she registered a case with Saddar police against four suspects.

For the recovery of her daughter, the complainant repeatedly visited the suspect who was the investigating officer and a sub-inspector at the police station. The suspect, on the pretext of raids, took the complainant with him and raped her twice. He also received a bribe from the victim for investigation into the case also.

Later, the complainant approached the court that issued orders for her medical examination for registration of a case.

The victim appeared before DPO Muhammad Hasan Iqbal along with court order to get her medical test done and registration of an FIR against the suspect.

The DPO directed the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) for preliminary inquiry. After the inquiry, the Saddar station house officer registered a rape case against the suspect and arrested him. The suspect would be produced in the court of a judicial magistrate for remand on Monday (today).

RAPE BID: A private academy owner in Dipalpur was booked on charge of a rape bid on her students’ mother who visited the academy office to get roll number slips of her children.

As per the FIR, the woman along with her son went to the academy in the City Dipalpur police area where her three children were studying. She asked the owner/principal for the roll number slips of her children. The principal asked her son to get photocopies of some papers from the market. In the meantime, he started touching the body of the victim and attempted to overpower her. When she resisted, he beat her up and issued her threats. He tore her burqa also.

Meanwhile, the academy students reached there on hearing the noise. Police were also called. The woman got a medicolegal certificate from Dipalpur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and the City Dipalpur police arrested the suspect. A case on charge of attempted rape was also registered against the suspect.
