TOBA TEK SINGH: Two persons died when an oil tanker overturned and fell into a ditch near the Pirmahal interchange on the Lahore and Abdul Hakeem section of M-3 on Monday.

The district police spokesperson said the tanker was on its way from Lahore to Multan. When it reached near Chak 321-GB, Pirmahal, the driver lost control of it either due to dizziness or speeding.

The tanker hit the motorway’s wall and fell into the ditch. As a result, the driver, identified as Abdul Rashid (38) and his assistant Muhammad Waqar (35), both residents of Gujrat, were seriously injured. They died before being shifted to hospital.

Meanwhile, two labourers were injured seriously in Faisalabad when the roof of a soap factory near Chak 68-JB on Faisalabad-Jhang Road caved in.

They were identified as Ahmad Ali (21) and Nisar Ahmad (22). They were shifted to the Allied Hospital.

DROWNS: A boy drowned in Gogera Branch Canal near the vocational training institute in Jaranwala. Rescue 1122 said the boy was about 16-year old and he remained unidentified.

It said the boy was taking a bath near the canal bank when he slipped into the deep water and drowned. People tried to rescue him but failed. The body of the boy was yet to be found when this report was filed.

ROBBER KILLED: An alleged robber was killed and his accomplice was injured critically in a shootout between the robbers and shopkeepers on the link road between Jhang Road and Bakar Mandi in Faisalabad.

Two robbers reached a battery shop on a motorcycle and snatched cash and valuables from the shopkeeper at gunpoint.

When they were fleeing, the shopkeepers and other people stopped them. At this, the robbers opened fire, which was retaliated by the shopkeepers. As a result, both the robbers were injured. One of them died while the injured robber was handed over to Jhang Bazaar police. He was later admitted to the Allied Hospital.

The robbers could not be identified when this report was filed.

FIRE: A trailer laden with cotton bales worth millions was gutted by a fire near Baggaywala Chowk at Mananwala on the Faisalabad–Lahore Road.

The firefighters said the fire was caused by a spark in the electricity wires passing over the road. They extinguished the fire but till then it had reduced the cotton bales to ashes.

SUICIDE: A boy committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of a room of his house at Bawa Chak, Sargodha Road, in Faisalabad.

Rescue 1122 said Hamza (17), the son of a farmer, was dejected after his marriage proposal was rejected by a girl.
