LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan on Monday chaired a meeting of the information technology (IT) wing and directed the officials to make access to all the initiatives and programmes easy for the citizens.

He said modern policing and all mobile apps designed for the convenience of people should be integrated. The e-services of Punjab Police should be made more convenient and user-friendly so that the citizens could avail them, he said and directed the officials to improve the working of police stations, following the standard operation procedures (SOPs) of Police Station Record Management System.

The IGP ordered the compilation of digital records of crimes related to old enmities across the province.

He said that the process of checking vehicles and passengers at the checkpoints through e-police post software should be made more effective.

“The hotels, inns and residences in all major cities, including Lahore, must be connected to Hotel Eye Software and no citizen should be allowed to stay in hotels without being checked by hotel software.”

Mr Khan said monitoring of Public Service Delivery Projects Front Desk, Service Centers and 1787 Complaint Management System would help police get the desired goals/targets.

He issued directions to make the website of Punjab Police easier for the convenience and communication of the citizens and warned that any delay in providing timely information to the citizens would not be tolerated.

The meeting also reviewed police IT projects, their upgrade and other issues related to modern policing.

During the meeting, DIG IT Ahsan Younis briefed the IG Punjab on the IT projects being used by the police and their upgrade. He said police had been using information technology for crime control and public service delivery in accordance with the principles of modern policing.

PROMOTED: Capital City Police Officer DIG Bilal Siddique Kamyana pinned badges to 132 newly promoted head-constables, including 11 lady police officials, at a ceremony on Monday.

The Promotion Board of the Lahore police had approved promotion cases of the police personnel at a meeting held on July 1.

Of them, 60 constables were from operations wing, 22 from investigation wing, 15 from security division, 11 from Elite Force while 35 were from different other units of the police.

Addressing on the occasion, the CCPO said the board had promoted the constables of good repute and announced that more promotions would be made next month.He directed them to treat citizens and complainants with respect and dignity, providing them timely help and justice.
