The MCU’s first Muslim and South East Asian superhero in Ms Marvel

Ms Marvel, an electrifying Disney+ Original series from Marvel Studios, is making history by featuring both the first Muslim and South East Asian superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now streaming on Disney+, Ms Marvel follows Kamala Khan, an avid gamer and Marvel superhero fan with a colourful imagination. The teenager would love to be like her favourite hero, Captain Marvel, but her protective family wants her to come back down to Earth. When one unforgettable night changes everything, she discovers that she has far more power than she ever could imagine.

The show is unique in that multiple directors have directed two episodes a piece. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directed episodes 101 and 106, Meera Menon directed episodes 102 and 103, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directed episodes 104 and 105.

Ms Marvel was creatively adapted from the best-selling comics. Iman Vellani, who plays Ms Marvel, has never acted before, but auditioned out of passion. Due to its story having roots in Pakistan and its cast featuring many Pakistani and South Asian origin actors, Ms Marvel is a hit with viewers in our part of the world. It seems Marvel’s magic has finally come home — to Pakistan.

A glimpse of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 3

Disney + shared a trailer for the new season of the musical drama series. The preview shows the students of East High head to Camp Shallow Lake for the summer, where they prepare a production of Disney’s Frozen. Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Julia Lester, Dara Reneé and Frankie Rodriguez return to star.

The official Season 3 announcement from Disney+ promised campfires, summer fun and curfew-less nights. Music from Camp Rock and the High School Musical franchises would be sung throughout the season. The docu-style comedy released a first look at the third season, which is dropping July 27, alongside an announcement that the series will be returning for a fourth instalment.
