KARACHI: Mr. Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Governor-General-designate of Pakistan, has assured the tribesmen of Baluchistan that the laws governing Baluchistan would continue unchanged and there would be no interference with “Riwaj” in a message of greetings sent to tribesmen today [Aug 9]. ... “…I wish to assure them, on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, that after August 15, 1947, all Agreements and allowances will continue until such time as the tribes can be consulted. Till then there will be no change whatever in the laws governing Baluchistan and no interference with “Riwaj” will be allowed. The tribesmen of Baluchistan have declared their firm resolve to enter the Pakistan Dominion and in that Muslim State they will receive welcome and help to prosperity and progress.

[Meanwhile, it was also reported from Karachi that] The Pakistan special train, which left Delhi on Saturday morning [Aug 9], was derailed last night [Aug 10] near Bhatinda following an explosion on the track. Two bogies capsized resulting in four persons being killed instantaneously and 20 injured. The train was expected to arrive here tomorrow. Great excitement prevails in the capital. … Three relief trains have been despatched from Lahore to the scene of occurrence.
