HARIPUR: A man and woman were killed in the name of honour in the urban area of Haripur, police said here on Sunday.

They said that two brothers and a cousin of the killed woman were blamed for the murder. They added that one of the three charged accursed was arrested.

City police said that the alleged killers believed that the woman and 27-year-old man of the Muhallah Makhan Colony were having illicit relations. On Saturday night her brothers Khushal, Baidar and their cousin Mohammad Asif, found them together in the bedroom of the woman and shot them dead.

However, a brother of the killed man registered complaint with police, stating that the victim was having supper at home when the woman’s husband called him by mobile phone to his home where his wife’s brothers were already present.

He said that no sooner did his brother enter their home the woman’s brothers opened fire at him and later murdered their sister. The bodies were later removed to Trauma centre for autopsy.

Police arrested Mohammad Asif but Khushal and Baidar were still at large.
