LARKANA: The Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Teachers Association has rejected Sindh government’s proposal for appointing bureaucrats as vice chancellors of public universities in the province.

In a press statement, Fahad Jibran Siyal and Syed Faizan Ali Shah, president and general secretary of the association, respectively, said the VCs’ appointment must be made in accordance with the procedure laid down in the Higher Education Commission’s law and similar laws of others provincial governments.

They expressed serious reservations over the proposal and said the summary for the purpose must be rejected in toto. Teachers would launch strong protest against the move if it was not withdrawn, they warned.
