TOBA TEK SINGH: A Faisalabad judicial magistrate, Naveedur Rehman, on Tuesday issued three days’ further physical remand of the accused in dental student Khadija Ghafoor’s assault case.

The remand of Sheikh Danish Ali has been extended on the request of Faisalabad’s women police station SHO Farah Batool. Police had requested the court to grant nine-day more physical remand of the accused after his five-day remand ended on Tuesday.

Police said they had yet to secure DNA samples, voice matching and potency test of accused Ali. He was not produced before the court on Tuesday as on last hearing a group of provoked lawyers attacked him and police locked him up in a courtroom to save him from the lawyers. He was, however, present on Skype during hearing of remand request of police.

The lawyers who appeared for the accused opposed the police request for issuance of nine-day physical remand. The court issued only three days’ remand up to Aug 26.

Police succeeded in recovering a pistol which the accused used to kidnap Khadija. Police took him to his house on Sheikhupura Road where he handed over his unlicensed 9mm pistol to police.

Police have also registered a new case of possession of illegal arm against him.
