LAHORE: Three students were injured during a clash between two groups at the Punjab University’s hostel on Tuesday.

A police contingent, led by Iqbal Town SP Ammara Sherazi, reached the campus and controlled the situation.

According to details, two groups, one belonging to the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) and other, consisting of students who had no affiliation with any organisation, attacked each other with clubs outside hostel No 14 of the university. The violent clash left three students injured. The university security guards intervened, dispersed the students and alerted police who controlled the situation.

Later on, the IJT activists lodged a protest over the issue. The injured were shifted to hospital where they were said to be in stable condition.

SP Sherazi said action would be taken against the students involved in attacking and injuring their fellows.

The PU spokesperson said the situation was normal at the university and added that the administration would take disciplinary action against those involved in the clash.
