THE population of Karachi is expected to go up by 50,000 as the result of the transfer of Pakistan Government Headquarters to this city. The number of the staff of the Pakistan Government and their families is expected to be 30,000 and the remaining 20,000 will consist of camp followers and businessmen from outside. …[T]he Rationing Officer, Karachi, said that Sind, being a surplus area, there will be no difficulties regarding foodstuffs. … “Cloth”, he said, “will be our real difficulty.
