TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores of dengue control employees of the Faisalabad District Health Authority blocked the District Council Chowk for traffic on Monday in protest against non-payment of their salaries for the last two months.

The protesting DHA employees erected barriers on different roads leading to the busy intersection of Faisalabad, while their women colleagues staged a sit in.

The protesters told reporters that 700 employees of the health department were engaged for the anti-dengue surveillance campaign, but despite passage of two months they had not been paid their salaries. They announced boycotting their duty till the payment of their two-month salary.

SHOT DEAD: A farmer was allegedly shot dead by his rivals at Gojra’s Chak 366-JB,

Ghanian, on Monday on a dispute over farmland ownership.

Gojra Sadar police say a farmer, Akhtar Ali, was going to his fields to bring fodder for his cattle when two unidentified attackers opened fire on him. He was critically injured in the firing and succumbed to his wounds before being shifted to hospital.

Police sources say the deceased had a dispute with someone over ownership of agricultural land that could have been the motive of the murder. The police have registered a case against the unidentified killers and started investigation.

KILLED BY RIVALS: A man was shot dead by his rivals over a property dispute near the Government Commerce (Khalsa) College on Jaranwala Road.

The deceased was identified as Shakeel Ahmed (50). The Peoples Colony police shifted his body to the district headquarters hospital for an autopsy.

In another incident, three persons were shot at and injured when their rivals opened fire on them over enmity at Faisalabad on Monday in Chak 41-JB located on the Jhang Road near Adda Thikriwala. They included Mohsin (23), Abbas (21) and Rizwan (21). Rescue 1122 shifted them to the DHQ Hospital Faisalabad.

UAF: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has collected donations and other necessary items for the flood relief.

UAF VC Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while chairing a meeting said the university employees from BPS-1 to BPS-16 donated their one-day salary while those in higher ranks (BPS-17 and above) their two days salary to help victims to the floods.

He said an action plan was being devised for rehabilitation of agriculture in flood-hit areas and seeds and other items would be provided to the affected people. He directed the officials concerned to prepare silage for the livestock of the flood-hit areas.
