SUKKUR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Monday visited flood-hit Sindh and vowed to spend Rs1 billion, collected by his party to help the flood survivors during a telethon last week, to alleviate the sufferings of the calamity-hit southern province.

During his visit to a flood relief camp set up in a government school in Sukkur, the former prime minister met the families of the flood victims, listened to their grievances, and shared food with them.

Mr Khan told the victims that he had come to the district to console them amid their ordeal. He assured the flood-hit people that the PTI would stand by them and play its role in their rehabilitation.

Speaking about the funds, Mr Khan said the party would allocate funds on the basis of recommendations of his team.

He said he would host another telethon coming Sunday and the majority of funds collected during this drive would also be allocated to flood survivors in Sindh.

Mr Khan said if the PTI came to power again, it had plans to combat the flooding and climate change through dam building on seasonal rivers in Balochistan, improving the drainage system, and plantation.
