BUMPY ROAD: Despite the announcement of a package worth Rs5 billion by the previous Punjab chief minister, the fate of the Pindi Bhattain-Chiniot road that links the city to the motorway continues to hang in the balance. The dilapidated condition of the road has been causing trouble to the commuters who have to make do with bumps and potholes. The authorities concerned should invest the allocated fund for the renovation of the road instead of waiting to see the condition of the road deteriorate further.

UNITED FOR PAKISTAN: The furious floods have caused large-scale destruction across the country. Millions of people have been affected and are homeless now. The political leadership should set their differences aside and unite for the people of Pakistan regardless of where they live and who they happen to be. They are Pakistanis and that should be enough. A disaster of such magnitude demands synchronised efforts from all if we are sincere about minimising the sufferings.

SHORTAGE OF BOOKS: Students of schools, colleges and universities in Balochistan’s Turbat district are facing an acute shortage of textbooks, which is affecting their education badly. Many of them are compelled to travel to Quetta to purchase them. Textbooks are essential for every student. The provincial government must ensure availability of textbooks for the students.

PAK-INDIA REVELRY: The match between Pakistan and India in the ongoing Asia Cup was a wonderful encounter. As is often said, cricket, after all, is just a game and everyone should enjoy it. It is no Pakistan-India rivalry; it is Pakistan-India revelry. Their contests are contests between titans, not clashes. On a given day, either of them can win a thriller. The two greats, King Kohli and Babar Azam, know this. The peoples of India and Pakistan know this, too. It would be nice if the two countries could resume cricketing ties.
