Asif, Fareed fined for fiery on-field spat in Asia Cup thriller

Pakistan’s Asif Ali and Fareed Ahmad of Afghanistan have been fined 25 per cent of their match fees for a heated exchange in their thrilling Asia Cup match in Sharjah.
The Afghans suffered a heartbreaking one-wicket loss to Pakistan on Wednesday to crash out of the Twenty20 tournament along with heavyweights India.
The incident occurred in the 19th over of Pakistan’s innings.
Tempers flared when fast bowler Fareed dismissed Asif and “made inappropriate physical contact” with the batsman, who “reacted with an aggressive gesture of the bat”, the International Cricket Council said.
Asif breached Article 2.6 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match” while Fareed was found to have breached Article 2.1.12, which relates to “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an International Match.”
The ICC added that both the players admitted their offence and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Andy Pycroft.
One demerit point each has been added to the disciplinary records of the players, both of whom did not have any previous offence in a 24-month period.
Pakistan face Sri Lanka in Sunday’s final in Dubai.

This is totally unfair. Asif is not at fault here the other afghan player is. The afghan player should have been fine more(50%) than Asif. ICC is useless they are only good at placing Pakistan and India in same group in every tornament to get viewers.

That is why it is important to stay cool. This would have been a real learning lesson for Afghan player, if Asif held back the anger in response to the aggression body contact by Fareed. Some Afghan fans also need a reality check, they are simply very ignorant gladly it is only a small group of Afghan as most are very good and kind people we have over 5 million of them in Pakistan, more than any nation on the planet outside of Afghanistan itself.

Fareed’s act was shameful. To add salt to injury, Pakistan beat Afghanistan.
Maybe next time the afghans can try to keep their emotions in check. Verbally and physically abusing a batsman that you got out is never a good thing. Asif only reacted to Fareed’s uncalled for actions.

what about Afghan thugs who attacked pakistan supporters inside and outside the stadium? These thugs are mostly who ran away from Afghanistan when US pulled out. They have immense hatred for pakistan. Pakistan must show no mercy on the cricket pitch, must play to inflict total damage. Thats how i would play.
