KARACHI: A factory worker was gunned down when he put up resistance to a robbery bid in Orangi Town on Thursday morning.
The latest killing took the death toll in street crimes over the last eight days to 12.
Mominabad police said that 35-year-old man, Mohammed Ishfaq, a resident of Bijli Nagar of Orangi, worked in a garments factory within the area.
He was shot dead by unknown suspects near Frontier Morr of Orangi Town, they added.
“It appears to be a robbery-related incident,” said West-SSP Dr Farrukh Raza.
Mominabad SHO Ayazuddin said that the victim wore a nightdress and it seemed that he was on his way to have breakfast when he was shot dead.
The victim suffered critical bullet injuries on his neck and died. The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
A day earlier, a shopkeeper was shot dead in Gabol Town by muggers.
Wounded policeman dies
A policeman, Waqas Zaidi, who was injured during an anti-encroachment drive in Surjani Town on March 14 succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the Aga Khan University Hospital on Thursday.
His funeral prayers were held at police headquarters in the Garden area.
