LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has launched the Student Performance Evaluation and Tracking System (SPETS) to put the attendance and performance records of students online.

SPETS pilot project was launched in March from a school in Multan and initially performance evaluation of students of class VI to X was conducted.

Around 5,68,986 students were registered with the system out of a total of 42,93,753 students of class VI to X studying at all public schools of the province.

The software would create an identification number of students, maintaining their educational, health, extracurricular, examination and result records. The parents and teachers would also have access to this record to monitor their performance completely and the data system would work like the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) system.

The system would also evaluate the performance of the teachers who would be made answerable for not resolving the educational issues of the students. The system would also record attendance of the students, their performance, weakness, health, family’s monthly income, total members of the family and other details.

Two days ago, Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas announced the launch of SPETS all over the province during a press conference at the Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Educational Development headquarters in Lahore.
