LAHORE: The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment on Monday quashed a case registered against PTI leader Shireen Mazari for tampering with a land record.
However, the spokesperson denied the news about the quashment and said the case was not closed.
Shireen Mazari was blamed for not giving back the lands secured under land reforms after the Federal Land Commission ruled against her.
Shireen Mazari approached the high court that a false report was filed against her by her political opponents.
The matter was later moved to the Supreme Court after the high court provided relief to the PTI leader. The Federal Land Commission later accepted anomalies in its previous replies and submitted a second response, paving way for a decision in her favour.
He said the ACE officials had submitted the report after proper investigation in the court while adding the court would have the authority to quash or continue the case.
He said the court would give any order about the case on next hearing while adding there were several corruption cases against the political personalities pending before court.
On May 21, the ACE and Islamabad police in a joint action arrested PTI leader and former federal minister Shireen Mazari from outside her house.
The Islamabad police in its statement said that Shireen Mazari was booked in a property case registered in DG Khan. The former minister has been shifted to DG Khan from Islamabad’s Kohsar police station.
A case was registered against Mazari in DG Khan over 129 acre land dispute and despite repeated requests, she did not appear, sources said.
