SWABI: A man was killed and three others were injured when members of two families traded fire over a children’s fight in Topi city here on Monday.

Rescue 1122 and police officials said the incident took place in Musakhel area.

DSP Iftikhar Ali Khan told Dawn that male members of the two families argued over a children’s fight, leading to exchange of fire between them.

As a result of firing, Sajjad Khan was killed on the spot, and his two brothers, Irfan Khan and Mohammad Ijaz, were injured.

Mohammad Tahir from the rival family was also injured.

The injured were taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, wherefrom they were referred to Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor. Doctors said injured Tahir had been shifted to Mardan Medical Complex owing to his serious condition.

Police registered cross FIRs on the complaint of the injured persons.

Meanwhile, body of an Afghan was recovered from Pehur High Level Canal on Monday, DSP Iftikhar said, adding the victim, Ihsanullah, drove a rickshaw.

On locals’ information, the Topi police and collected the body and shifted it to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

Ameenullah, the deceased’s father, said they found his rickshaw parked in Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate.

STAGNANT WATER: Residents of Mehrab Banda area of Jehangira have complained that rainwater accumulated in the area had become a breeding place for mosquitoes, and demanded of the TMA officials to pump it out.
