ISLAMABAD: An exhibition showcasing works that highlight the evolution of art with the use of digital technology opened at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Wednesday.

The show, Codes Goes In, Art Comes Out portrays works by Sana Muiz and Mohammad Muiz. The show was inaugurated by respected visual artist and an art educationist, Farah Mahmood.

Ms Mahmood said: “Generative art is truly working with the essence of what shapes our world, physical and digital. Coding is at the heart of generative art, and our lives are constantly built by it.

“The artistic exploration of code and how it can be re-imagined and re-purposed is critical. Generative art is one big step in that direction.”

The artists, belonging to the fields of business and psychology, dreamed of pursuing art in one way or another, she said, adding that now they had started exploring generative art which could make their work stronger and aesthetically pleasing.

The images contained colourful impressions of varied shapes, kind of like abstract art. A large audience including artists, students, VIPs, government officials and journalists attended the event. PNCA spokesperson said it was an honour for the council to host a significant exhibition and to celebrate the era of digital arts.

A visitor said that the show transformed the local art scene whereas another pointed out that the works created surprise and were a unique aesthetic experience.

“The show makes you wonder what else is waiting in the evolving art world,” said another visitor.

The organisers explained that the show aimed at creating an exciting space for art buffs at the same time showcasing works that revolved around creative thought and practices focusing on technology along with topics that occupied the art world today.
